Continuing his studies at Marquette University, Dr. Bird received a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics in 2002. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists (where he served as 2019-20 President). He was the 2012 President of the Dane County Dental Society, and serves as a trustee of the Marquette University School of Dentistry Alumni board.  Dr. Bird is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Bird has been practicing orthodontics in Madison since 2002, and he treats patients at three Orthodontic Specialists of Madison locations. Dr. Bird was also one of the orthodontic chairmen at Max Pohle Dental Clinic, located in Meriter Hospital in Madison, prior to the closure of the clinic.
